I obviously had to grab this opportunity to write a happy ending for we could play a beautiful game (even though we're gonna lose). That story centred around champagne, so I’ve themed this around four other alcoholic drinks, and one non-alcoholic.

And honestly some of my students rose to the challenge. out of 50 students I had 6 100%s on the other hand I had that many get under 40%. I have 3 students who this is there 2nd time around with me (and a couple I think had another round with someone else and still they aren't even close to passing the first test which is basically h.s. school biology review. Sigh.

My coworker became a great grandma yesterday so that's fun and exciting.

I started my lighthouse horror story pulling straight from Rose Island's real history.

I decided to risk using Voltaren (diclofenac) cream on my hot mess express wrist. It is helping but it's dangerous for me to do so because I'm adding blood thinners to my blood thinners. Hopefully I'm not absorbing too much of it.

I'm on flood alert again. Because you guessed it. It's still raining.

Today as I was walking into work, I tripped and fell hard in the parking lot.

I hobbled inside, bleeding heavily from several different places, clocked in, and immediately noticed my phone was missing. I knew it had been in my pocket, or at least I thought I had. Instead of checking the schedule or prepping my work room, I ran back outside to check my car. No phone. I checked the ground, worried that a car might have run over it. I checked under several cars in case it had gone clattering. No phone anywhere. I went back inside and checked the ground everywhere. Checked my work bag again. Nope.

Still bleeding profusely, by the way.

My boss sees me and asks if I'm okay and I shake my head no. I can feel myself starting to panic. My phone is inside one of those phone case wallet things, which means that I have not just lost my phone, I have also lost my ID, my debit card, two credit cards, and more. I tell him as such. I say I have to call and freeze all my cards, except... I can't, because I don't have a phone.

I didn't know what else to do, so I just. Cleaned up all my wounds and bandaged them up.

Two of my knuckles on my right hand were bleeding, my elbow was bleeding, my forearm was bleeding, and then on my right leg, there was a huge tear in my pants and underneath I had a huge four inch long gash that was bleeding like hell.

By the time I was done doing triage, a man walked into the lobby with my phone and asked if I worked there; he'd opened it and checked the ID. I rushed out there and thanked him for turning it in, and then.

Well, I guess then all was well. I got my room ready, and was ready to start on time.

My body hurts though, man. It hurts.

My first job was at the Animal Shelter by my house. At first I loved it, but you had to take your turn bringing the dogs to the gas chamber. I was barely 16. I hated that. I didn't last too long. Made me cry.

What color their eyes are. I love eyes, and especially if they green, blue or anything other than brown. That's what mine are.

No, mine doesn't. I can't believe I tried.

Green. Maybe it should taste like spinach. I love Spinach.

When I was young, my mom took me to ballet. I was very clumsy, and she just knew that was going to make me normal. Yes, she said that. Anyhow, my older brother knew I hated ballet, so he told me to throw the slippers away in a trash bin and say I set them down and forgot them. We were poor; I shouldn't have been going. So when we got home, Mom asked where my ballet slippers were, and I told her I sat them down and forgot them. She was so angry, and she said, "You don't get to go back." I went into my room, looking all butt hurt, and laughed and laughed. I told Dan he was a genius.

. Applebees or Chili's?

I love both places. But if I had to choose, probably Chili's. They have great food.

. Who is your favorite Marvel superhero?

Iron man. I love him so much that I have a large Iron Man tattoo on my left leg. And I know they have to replace Iron Man somewhere, somehow, but I won't watch it. I love Robert Downey Jr's role in it.

I sleep anywhere between 6 hours and 9 hours.

20. Have you, or someone close to you, ever suffered a concussion?

I have. I got hit in the head and had to go to the hospital. I ened up having seizures for about 15 years, then they went away. Happy day.

21. Have you ever played miniature golf?

I love miniature golf. I used to have a great time with my kids there.

22. Larry Hagman was born today in 1931 – famous for I Dream of Jeanie and Dallas. What role do you remember him from? I Dream of Jeanie was one of my favorite shows. It was so cute.

As if mother nature got the memo that today is mabon the temperature has been autumnal. YAY. It's gray and raining, less yay. It's miserably wet and flooded. My brother and SiL actually took off last night and didn't wait for this morning. Good call because they probably couldn't have left if they had waited.

It's SO wet the Ohio Renn faire just emailed me begging me to change my ticket to sunday because there will be too many people to park in the swamp that is their fields. I will call the hotel and see if I can but it was nearly sold out for friday. Either way I plan to get there over an hour early so I can park. They also said 'wear shoes you don't mind getting muddy. REALLY muddy.' It's going to be so hard to walk.

I got some new tea from David's tea that I'm looking forward to trying. Maple early grey, chocolate peppercorn chai and pumpkin chai. I am ridiculous with tea.

Honestly I have more of those for Angel the Series than I do Buffy. In no particular order my favorite head canons are

1. Spike/Dru (and Angelus/Darla) loved being at all the fun things happening at the time. (I've had them at Woodstock, crashing a radio show etc)

2. That Giles was a bisexual swinger in his youth (which I feel is broadly hinted at with him and Ethan and the demon sex magic sex parties

3. Faith was abused as a child (also broadly hinted at)

4. That Dawn was meant to be way different than she was (and now with Charisma and the others speaking out against Joss, that seems to be have some truth to it.) I actually prefer to write older teen Dawn/Adult Dawn and paired with the other (badly written but I love him) weirdo, Connor.

- Flights of Foundry went mostly well. I missed one of my panels, which I felt horribly guilty about, though. I also remembered just how much of an introvert I really am. I didn't do a lot, but I was so, so tired by the end of Saturday. Even in an online setting, I find groups of people to be A Lot.

- The panel I was most nervous for went...okay, I think? I can't explain why the one on disability made me so anxious, but I had initially backed out of it. Someone else on the panel (who is a friend of mine) convinced me to give it a go though, which was so sweet.

- I did manage to keep up writing over the weekend, which I truly didn't expect, but I'm so proud of myself for doing it.

- I saw S on Monday, which was amazing. She's mostly in Tallahassee now, so I don't get to see her nearly as much as I used to. We weren't sure if we were going to before I went back to Seattle, but our schedules worked out. I'm going to see her again tomorrow.

- Vision therapy is coming to a close soon. I think next week is my last one. It was/is a good experience, but it's so important to know what you're getting into. I'm glad I did it, I got some useful stuff out of it, and I have exercises I can keep doing to strengthen my eyes even more, which is great.

- I am so, so behind on

therealljidol reading. I haven't even started, honestly and I'm so overwhelmed every time I try and start Next round I'm tracking the post and trying to read stuff as it comes in so I don't end up in this position again.

- Speaking of, I've had such a good reception on my entry! I was mostly pleased with the story (with the usual general nerves from sharing anything I make) but many people have been so lovely about it, and that's been lovely.

- The rest of the week I have two more VT appointments Thursday and Friday, and then nothing on the weekend. I might go to a coffee shop with my mom, but we'll see about that.

- I'm now going to contemplate my

no_true_pair story for the day and pet my cat.

Truther. Happy with any point in the timeline (pre, during, divergent, post, or AU) as long as Tan survives.

For Kraven, again, same re: timeline, though this is for the Kraven the Hunter movie with Aaron Taylor Johnson, rather than general Kraven from the wider Spider-man universe.

I’m a huge fan of these two men in any combination, with or without Reader. I’m particularly a fan of these two having a snarky love-hate relationship but, beneath the eye rolls and the snarking, they are actually really protective of each other. I could so see Tom not letting anyone else talk shit about Colt or his work in front of him – then in the next breath demanding less face from Colt’s next shoot 😂 Similarly, I could see Colt being protective of Tom if anyone was talking about him being a himbo/not a hard worker/not deserving his fame (because beneath the assholeish behaviour, Tom really did work for his fame, darnit~!)

My brother and his wife are here for their 25 anniversary up in the Hocking Hills. Did I ever mention I had to fly less than 10 days after 9/11 because I was in the wedding? yeah.

Anyhow they said come up, spend the might. I'm like yay. And then it rained so god. damn. much. between here and there that I woke up to notifications that I'm literally cut off from the Hocking Hills. A lot of students/profs couldn't get to the school. So I had to take a pass. It's flooded out again. 6 inches of rain hit east of me. In ONE hour. welcome to the ravages of climate change.

I need to put some voltaren on my hand. Woke up with it so swollen I had to wrap it in a compression bandage. So swollen everything is numb from the pressure. Fun times.

I hit the students with their first wake up call to medicine today, the 4 hallmarks of inflammation, why I'm a dragon about it with 3 sobering stories from my days in health care. It's heavy. It's important. You miss these hallmarks someone will lose a limb or their life potentially and I need them to understand that. I need them to understand the healthcare jobs they're signing up for, now before they invest too much time. It's not for everyone. I want them to not have rose colored glasses vs trying to scare them away.

IDEK to say about this discovery. I am not surprised that there is a so-called "kid-safe" search engine (Kiddle, as described on Wikipedia) and a so-called "kid-safe" online encyclopedia (Kiddle website). I am, however, surprised that it has an entry for Hugh Dillon -- it's "Hugh Dillon Facts for Kids".

It was the monthly maker's market on Saturday gone, and it actually went well. We more than made back our table fee, though any profit was reduced by spending at the other tables. Including the wax melt people who'd brought their cat again, so of course I had to buy some more wax melts. I also got some discounted bath bombs and a Demon Hunter hair bow for Bodhi, and while the cake lady wasn't there, there was a baked goods stall, so between them and the usual raffle and tombola contributions, bye bye extra profit.

Yesterday was Bodhisitting and she came grocery shopping with us before we did the soft play and dinner out combo again.

Soft play was nice and quiet apart from a small birthday party gathering of younger kids, so Bodhi enjoyed the space and I enjoyed the relative for soft play, peace. Though B was adamant I should go up to the second level with her, prompted by the fact a couple of other grown ups were up there. She even stressed the slide to get down was wide so my bot wouldn't get stuck. Which, admittedly, was true. The problem was, to get up you had to climb up some blocks that went through circular gaps and I really didn't want my Sunday plans to include getting wedged at a soft play.

There was also the crown situation. The birthday party guests were given cardboard crowns, and Bodhi really wanted one, too. Sadly, the woman in charge said they were for party guests only, which fair enough, it was worth asking. Thankfully, Burger King, where we went for dinner, came through cardboard crown wise, the woman behind the counter there giving Bodhi a handful of the things, which she then wore for the rest of the day.

The autumn tv shows are well underway now with All Creatures Great and Small back, Bake Off starts this week, Celeb Traitors in a couple of weeks, Celeb Pottery Showdown, with Layton, on now, and on Saturday, Strictly was back! I do still love that ridiculous sparkly show, and am enjoying the new presenters and I'm sure will enjoy the new pros when we get to know them more.

The family vacation actually went really, really well. It was relaxing, a lot of fun, and honestly? I feel like I'm legitimately a part of the family, now. I told Blair as much, and she got teary eyed about it.

We drove out in a three-car convoy around noon on Thursday, stopping in a town roughly an hour away to eat at a favorite, semi-famous restaurant called Norske Nook (famous for pie!). We got all the way up to the North Woods and found the cabin around 4pm, unloaded, and explored the property.

It was on tons of property with a long, long driveway that went through the woods. Tons of land with a huge semi-wrap-around porch, three entrances, a fire pit, and a path through the trees that led to a dock onto a stream.

A nice kitchen, great living area with two couches, a big beautiful dining area surrounded on three sides by windows. A cozy upstairs loft with couches and beanbag chairs and a tv. Two bedrooms and a bathroom on the main floor, and a basement downstairs containing a HUGE game room with air hockey, billiards table, shuffleboard, a table for cards, and half a dozen arcade games. There's a door that goes right outside into the woods, a bedroom on either end of the game room and an incredibly large bathroom in between.

All things considered, plenty of space for seven people to mingle all together or go off in singles and pairs and do whatever. I never felt like I couldn't get some time to myself, which was what I was sort of worried about being in a cabin in the middle of the woods with six other people.

We ventured down to our dock by the stream, then crossed the road and went down to the other dock on the lake to check things out and admire the view.

The owner of the cabin had arranged a sort of scavenger hunt. In order to open the box wooden chest in the dining room and find out what was inside, we had to locate all 7 Sasquatch in, on and around the property, and send him the photos. We did it in record time, and by the time we had gotten a fire going in the fire pit, we'd received the code to unlock what ended up being, fortunately, supplies for s'mores. We sat around the fire for a long time, until it was time for bed. Came in, showered up, and went to bed.

The next day it was raining. We had a big breakfast and then Blair and I spent the better part of the afternoon in town, browsing all the little shops and getting some hot drinks in the cafe. We found a plant shop, some antique stores, a bookstore, a bakery, an art gallery showcasing local paintings and pottery, and a gem and fossil shop.

Blair and I napped when we got home, reconvened with the rest of the family for dinner, then spent the rest of the evening playing billiards, shuffleboard and air hockey with Blair's sister and brother-in-law until bed. Good times. I've started to realize that in my effort not to ever look stupid in front of other people, I avoid trying things and playing games and such, but when I try I'm actually pretty good. I got accused of hustling at cards, shuffleboard and pool.

Saturday, another big breakfast. Blair, Gabe and I went down to the lake and dragged in a big old rusty rowboat we found next to the dock. I've never been on a boat like that, so every time it tipped in either direction I was sure we were going in the water. Luckily we did not, and were able to row across the lake to the island in the middle, where we proceeded to fall victim to the island curse: Gabe accidentally walked into a patch of poison ivy, Blair sat on a log only to disturb a small swarm of bees, one of which stung her, and the strap of one of my sandals broke, making it extremely hard for me to walk on the rocky shoreline or in the shallow water.

We explored a bit, did some rockhounding and some peaceful sitting around. Discovered there were leeches in the water, which, luckily, did not manage to latch onto any of us. We got back into the boat, did a lap around the island, then headed back.

Blair and I had a nice quiet round of snacks and warm drinks out on the back patio, then went for a long walk with Blair's mom where we saw deer, collected wildflowers, and spotted some bobcat tracks. Made it back just before nightfall, had dinner, then started another bonfire and sat out there making s'mores and doing MadLibs until we cried from laughter.

Morning came too soon, but between the seven of us, packing everything up was quick, easy and efficient. The other two cars took off toward home, but Blair and I went back downtown to re-visit a couple of shops before seeking out a zoo we found on a map about an hour away. There was a fun little hike out to a dam, and beyond that a tiny free zoo with a handful of animals.

After that we finally made our way home. Neither of us are ready to go back to work tomorrow, as that trip was just way too short. It was nice to just hang around doing whatever, surrounded by pretty scenery.
