Yeah, not dead.

(I suppose that's probably reasonably evident given the one-sentence ficlets post thing a few weeks ago but whatever >.>;;)

Not dead just flat on account of state of world/fandom/familial bullshit/more world/more fandom/universe in general ...

I did do the aforementioned picofics for

1character, and I just finished my draft for

iddyiddybangbang. Alas

spook_me isn't running this year (one of the two remaining things I do/did every year still) but boy howdy do I hear "I am depressed and need to get my shit together", godspeed spooky!mod.

Aside from that, I crufted together the beginnings of a shaky as hell website and put epubs of my novels on there, bite my arse, dogs of AO3 staff; that's not nothing I spose?

Mostly I'm chewing slowly through a depressingly small number of new books coming in, and going steadily backwards in my videogaming and happy to do so -- after Final Fantasy Resonance and Belmont's Curse, I just might be Done[tm] with new releases? Sure feels that way these days ...

Surely there's other things I could comment on but no idea, unless I complained and what's complaining in a DW post going to do? >.>

Tried to have a relaxing day. Didn't quite succeed. My usual coffee shop was closed due to the construction cutting power to the entire block. Went to the other newish one. Eh, the mocha was fine but something about the space didn't do it for me.

The library is having their twice a year book sale. Lots of LGBT books. NONE that were anything other than romance so I left them all. The only thing I walked off with was an old Robert Aspirin M.Y.T.H. book because I haven't seen one in decades and one that was adapted into a Vin Diesel movie and I only took because it was titled XXX (a lot less sexy than I would hope for I'm sure) and I do that yearly alphabet challenge. Can't pass up an X (I now have a 3 year backlog but did I use one this year? No I wussed out and reread that X File's graphic novel.

I did get to the Amish homestead market and bought too many of their oversized baked goods to make myself feel better.

But in good news I finished another chapter of my new novel Quartz Hearts. It's up to 66K since Feb. I'm pretty happy with that (granted I know for a fact I can churn out 50K in a month so it's not that big of a deal but I'm happy none the less) And looking at the writers group they seemed to like it and now I have two Moms in the group which is good to keep me on track when writing a 10 1/2 year old.

- Things are going pretty well for the challenges I've taken on this month.

communal_creators is going really, really well. I think something about keeping start and end times for the work I'm doing is hitting my brain in such a good, pleasing way, so that's something to remember.

- This weekend is mostly taken up by FoF, but I'm going to try and keep writing a little bit. I'm not sure I'll manage it on Sunday, as my horror panel is at 8am and then my disability panel is later that day (5pm technically, but still). I do have a lot of panels I want to poke my head into tomorrow, and I have a couple of hang out sessions lined up with people I know too, so we'll see how it goes!

- I'm very behind on DW, but I'm going to try and get back into the swing of things after this weekend is over (I'm going to try during the weekend too, but I'm giving myself a break on that if it doesn't happen0> The main reason I'm even doing this post is to mention FoF but the other stuff is good too.

Two were the Amazon packages I was expecting (a microphone for work and the trunk liner for my CR=V so not exciting gifts) and a dead mouse delivered either by a disgruntled Amazon driver or Rocket, place your bets.

Better than a live mouse I suppose.

How much do you pay attention to reviews? Honestly I pay very little attention to reviews on Amazon/GR/Storygraph but if I'm listening to a book blogger I pay a bit more attention. This might be unwise. This is now the third book from both of these blogger (one from Ireland now in Canterbury and one from Wales) loved Silent Companions. I was bored. One of the two liked Bat Eater and Other Names for Cora Zeng. Cora had zero drive or agency and I wasn't sure why I should care. Both loved The Exorcist's House. Sounded good like a modern Amityville Horror. It's a neat idea but I swear this indie press couldn't afford good editors because damn, this is passive. I've never seen so many to be verbs in forever. It feels like a newbie fanficcer went pro without learning the basics (because it really reads like so-so fanfic).

Maybe I should listen to these two and read the ones they didn't like. My chances might be better. So far the only one I liked was Incidents Around the House (one liked it, one didn't). One liked (one didn't) Be Still My Unbeating Heart which I just got from interlibrary loan but I have to say gay vampire mystery with a talking cat might have been written by ME so I have high hopes I'll like this one.

Tomorrow is the Mothman Festival. They're expecting 30,000 people. I am skipping it again this year. (I had decided to make it every other year but I was supposed to go tomorrow) Why? I think I mentioned it but the Memorial Silver Bridge has a broken expansion joist and I am NOT going to be on a broke-ass bridge inching along (especially since it's 1 lane right now). I don't want to die in the Ohio.

Have the friday fannish recs. Man it's been a LONG time since I've written anything of my own.

werewolvesden are doing something for the Spooky season this year, so thus our first PROMPT FEST.

This is open to ALL fandoms that have or focus on werewolves and other were-shifters. Wereshifter AUs where a fandom without any are allowed only if at least one character is a were-shifter (any animal!). Crossovers are completely okay!

Any rating, any characters or pairings are allowed. Word Minimum? At least 100 words but no maximum.

What about ratings or content warnings? This is a "Choose Not To Use Warnings" event BUT all I ask is you warn for the general rating in your comments so people who don't want to read it can skip it.

So. Damn. Humid. If I wanted this I'd move back to Florida. Also it's almost fall so these 90 degree days can fuck off any time now.

My sugar crashed to 55 at lunch and then when I was relaxing with my apple spice macchiato at the coffee shop I could feel my sugar going up (okay yes it was a sugary drink but I don't normally feel like this) By the time I was done in Kroger I knew I had to give up the rest of my plans because I knew even without looking at the dexcom that my sugar was 300+ because I was raging and very grumpy. It's like drive your ass home now. (that's what happens if my sugar is too high)

Thankful Thursday - Thankful that my novel is still chugging along and that I found someone to beta my feminist noir story

Even the fandoms I know are things I just can't see myself writing or are such rare pairings I can't even think of how to begin. (like in one of my fandoms the character was so obscure I literally had to go to fandom wiki to figure out who he was and I have over 100 stories in this fandom on AO3 which is only a fraction of what I've written. Why do cars have to be so expensive to maintain? My god. $1,800 to get new tires, new brake pads, and a new battery that failed when I got there. I stayed past their closing for them to get it all done too. Huffs. It BETTER STAY GOOD FOR THE NEXT COUPLE OF YEARS. Especially since I was hopeful to save up before Christmas... Sigh. So much for that. But I will see what I can do.

Still have to review for the Accounting exam. my god. Try not to have another panic attack. We got this. Tell myself what. I review for the rest of the week and Saturday. Then the moment of truth come Sunday afternoon. And no matter what, I can treat myself to the new Fire Emblem I snagged after it all.

Also. Mabon is this weekend. I can try to have that chance to celebrate and get my witch on when it's all said and done. I especially want to attend the Mabon gathering and prepare something nice. Maybe apple donuts... or pumpkin/cinnamon twists.

Everything is Spain but without the S. But it will pass.

I had a bit of a scare and thought I'd lost my engagement ring last night. I've worn it on a necklace for years now, and last night woke up to find the chain had snapped and my ring was nowhere to be seen. I knew it had to be in the house somewhere as I'd seen it before going to bed, but couldn't actually feel it anywhere in bed.

It was about four am when I made the discovery, so it was really dark but I didn't want to put on a light and wake James, so did some patting down of the bed and pillows, but nothing. Unable to settle, I eventually got up and thankfully, found my ring at the foot of the bed. Well, I say found it, I stepped on it, but the end result was the same.

Today I went to the actual yoga class, and I enjoyed it. ( cut for details )

Hi, everyone. The Sentinel Secret Santa is not happening this year. Ainm decided 20 years was enough for her. Thank you, Ainm. But I have excellent news. Morgan Briarwood, our new Mod, wants to have a Sentinel Advent Calendar. She's working out rules right now and will be posting about it soon. It still will be anonymous, until the end of the month. I'm so excited, I'm driving myself nuts. 😁 There will be prompts for each day in December. Morgan will fill everyone in as soon as she plans it out. We're hoping to have a lot of interest. So managed to get out of work early today, and thanks to AMC's Tuesday & Wednesday deals, I went to go check out Practical Magic 2. I did end up missing a few minutes of the beginning though so I'm not sure if I missed anything important. Spoilers ahead:

In other news, I've been rewatching Once Upon a Time for the last couple weeks? I forget when I started it, but I figured I would start it again because a) I never finished it but did have overall warm feelings towards the show and b) wanted to participate in the OUAT Icon Battle (which ends 9/19) and I couldn't quite figure out what I should icon besides obviously Emma, Hook, and Elsa oh and c) since I've been obsessively playing Dreamlight Valley. I remember the first and second season fairly well, a few things made me stumble since I completely forgot about them ("Lacey", Tom Ellis as Robin Hood, and many more) and I definitely watched the Frozen season, but I think I stopped watching the show sometime after that season.
