If this is what I can expect from my physical therapy wanna bes this is going to a LOOOOONG year. Test 1 was just a review of bio 1 (or frankly h.s. biology) 3 out of 8 passed. No excuse for this. And when I wouldn't let them sit in one clump to take the exam you would have thought I murdered their puppy in front of them. Meanwhile in a coworker's first test, people cheated, she caught them, they cried.

God this semester shall suck it.

At least I got another chapter of my

wipbigbang done. I have 2 more chapters (I've decided that, deadline looming and I don't want it to meander)

The Mystic and the Missing Girl by Vikki VanSickle. Mostly enjoyable. The lead was slightly annoying though.

The X-Files 30 days of night graphic novel, a reread but I remember literally none of it...9 months later. That's what I said last week and now, finished I remembered zero. Wow.

Bat Eater and Other Names for Cora Zeng - holy crap interesting ideas but Cora is so hard to like this short book is a struggle and a half.

The Exorcist's house - I'm deep into Spooky season now.

The Halls of the Dead - historic necromancer horror but it's a bit of a slog

So... I have missed a lot and trying to catch up is going to be kind of impossible, but hey, I'm back. I think.

As usual, not much going on here.

I had today off work, and spent most of the day cleaning and organizing my room. Then Blair trimmed and dyed my hair (again). I swear, my hair is a different color every couple of weeks at this point. The pretty blue-green-purple mermaid color scheme faded out, so we redid the indigo/purple and painted some dark blue over parts of it. We'll see what happens.

Tomorrow I work, and then I've got to come home and do more cleaning. Thursday we leave to go on a little family vacation with Blair's family. We'll be staying in a huge cabin kind of in the middle of nowhere, but from the pictures I saw on the booking site, it looks quite pretty.

Anyway, there's no one to watch our dog, so Blair enlisted the help of some friends. One of them will be handling Thursday and another will be handling Friday through Sunday. Both of them will be staying over in our apartment, which I am not pleased about because I don't trust either of them not to go snooping through our things or to make sure the front door is always locked, but it's really the only option we've got as there's no one else, nowhere to board dogs near here that we can trust with our dog's health issues, and the AirBnB forbids pets (and has cameras on the property, I'm sure).

I'll end up prepping all of Velma's food and medicines and writing out a detailed list of what our dogsitters should and should not do that is sure to make me look like an untrusting hardass, but oh well.

Two distinct software things bit the dust today. First question asked, did Dana touch it? Yes, shut up. Let me alone. It is not my fault electronic things tend to go haywire around me.

It was an incredibly long day. But it ended well. I got my Ohio Renn fest tickets for next weekend, WAY earlier than I usually go but Jacques ze Whipper is going to be there for the first time. I was not missing it. Pray I remember to finally charge up my neck fan so I don't die. I will take my You Matter fan too and dear self Bring. Electrolytes!! You have powder packs. BRING and put in water.

Gerard hinted at potential new MCR music. Awesome. I can't imagine it'll be soon, but I can be patient. I mean, I'm still patiently waiting for Nsync to finish their hiatus which started several lifetimes ago.

I went to see two films over the weekend. Practical Magic 2, which was good easy watching, and The Fall 2, which was very tense watching! Though, with an ending that ( cut for spoilers )

I saw the physio about my rotator cuff again yesterday, and was in all of a few minutes. It was a new PT and all she did was give me a stronger band to use, increase the set of exercises I've been doing to three sets three times a week, and say to go back in a month. Where, if there's still no improvement they'll arrange a pain killing injection.

Then today I had an appointment to see the doctor for a follow up about my tremor. That's not really improving that much either, but he's not concerned saying I'm still on a low dose of the beta blockers so can keep going up for a while before trying something else. So, now I'm on them three times a day and then back to see him in a month, too. Where, if no improvement he's going to contact a specialist for advice on trying some new meds.

So yeah, two anti climatic appointments, really.

Weight management class isn't on again this week, but is back next Wednesday, though the email also said that the Monday exercise only sessions are cancelled until further notice. That does make me wonder if the main Wednesday sessions are back with another instructor as they didn't say Rosie would be back, just the drop ins would be back on. I hope that's not the case, but guess I'll find out in the Friday email.

therealljidol but I also decided to jump into

no_true_pair with one of my original universes too. Because I'm quite sensible, you so.

I'm going to be posting those ficlets over at

worldswecallourown if anyone wants to read them. I'll also be using it to archive any original fic that gets written for stuff like this/for the bigger original stories I have that aren't just one-shot submission stories.

Please feel free to join if you're curious! I might do a brief write-up on some of the universes I'm thinking of working with or like, making landing pages for them or something. Maybe do some kind of a directory in general. We'll see how fancy I get with it.

Also, on top of doing NTP and LJ Idol, I'm also doing

communal_creatives for the next month, but that at least can double up with the other two very easily. I'm doing a time goal to hopefully make me actually pull stuff up every day and do something with words. Along with writing, I marked down drawing as part of my time spent too, so maybe I can try and do that more as well.

Hopefully the rest of the year will be full of creative things for me.

ANd sick. OMG sick this morning and it's all one me. So I had that greasy fish and chips yesterday which made me mildly nauseous. BUT then my sugar crashed out and I did my usual peanut butter to bring it up. But that's fat too. My stomach didn't move over night and I was so damn nauseated and the worst part was I can only blame myself. Barely better now.

As for the haunting, for many MANY (like 40) years things have gone missing from my place only to turn up in strange places. Like the time surgery notes we were studying turned up in my apartment's bathroom though no one in the study group had gone there (and the guy who found it saw something in my mirror and was out of there) or the way my dorm keys would go missing. My roomie and I turned everything inside out including stripping my bed and leaving it in the middle of the floor. I left with the instruction to please give me back my key. It was on top of the bedding when we returned.

So over the weekend I couldn't find my dex com. I had it the night before when my sugar crashed out that time. I remembered bringing it out to the living room to put in my purse. Yesterday I tore up the area around my recliner and found nothing. I jammed my hands as far down into the cushions of the chair. Nothing. I lift up the chair and it's not under it either. Maybe I left it at work on Friday (the last time I remember it) It wasn't in my office or my lab. I come home and half under the chair is my damn dexcom where I could not have missed it. It was where I was standing to lift the chair last night. Logically it must have been in the chair and suddenly dislodged. But I'm telling you it's my ghost.

I'd also enjoy seeing some more about his role as the Detective Prince, both in terms of actual detective work and the idol/celeberty/PR side of it. I like to ship him with protag, Sumire, Yusuke, and (in AUs) Haru.

...I will admit that i can't really explain why I like this ship other than "something something bad dads/bosses/father figures who take advantatge of them/put them to work for them". Uhhh Goro modeling for Yusuke? Oh, maybe they run into each other post-canon because Akechi is getting work as an art model, and Yusuke hires him, and that's how the PTs find out that he's alive/where he is?

Yoshizawa Sumire (Persona 5)
Her identity issues and general mental health issues make her like a chew toy to me. Some kind of pre-canon thing about her relationship to her family? During canon where her parents/Goro/other people who know her get worried about how she's acting? Post-canon where she tries to figure out who she is? I ship her with Goro, Protagonist, Yusuke, Makoto, and Futaba

Okumura Haru (Persona 5)
I'd be interested in seeing her try to wrestle with complicated feeling about her father, and her trying to decide if/how she's going to take over Okumura foods. Also, gardening! I ship her with Protag, Yusuke, Makoto, Ryuji, and (in AUs) Goro.

They're just so sweet together, and I love how much Ann cares for Shiho. It's be nice to see Shiho returning the favor for Ann and caring for her somehow, or even just her perspective on Ann and their relationships. Phantom Thief Suzui is a tried-and-true AU that I always like, as well. Or maybe, canonverse where Suzui somehow figures out that Ann and her friends are the Thieves?

Themmm, the rivalry, the respect, being on opposite sides and yet managing to love each other despite it all... anyways, in terms of specific prompts: Post canon reunion? What if they did in fact meet a few years earlier? The PTs judging Joker's taste in men?

Ship: Akechi Goro & Okumura Haru (Persona 5)
Their relationships is sooo fascinating... they have a lot of similar characteristics (sucky fathers, public pressure, etc) which means that I firmly belive they would have been partner-in-crime in a different timeline, and yet Akechi's actions mean that there's a huge rift between them

Fandom DNW: No explicit sex or kink for this fandom, please! Also, please no spoilers for any of the spinoffs or movies (character cameos are fine!)

Doomed lesbians who would rewrite the world for each other <3<3<3. Equally happy with canon-verse angst and tragedy, "everything is fine and happy" AUs, and anything in between. For something a bit more specific, I would enjoy some stuff from the pre-canon loops, and/or a role reversal AU. Would also be open to any of their other teammates joining them in a polyam relationship!

I love these three and all their identity shenanigans! Episode-style/casefic would be absolutely wonderful for this fandom. I've read several enjoyable identity reveal fics, but two variants that I don't think I've seen before and would really like to read are Loid and Yor finding out because they went after the same target, or one of them getting severely injured/captured/whatever on a mission and Anya feels like her only course of action is telling her other parent so that they can go on a rescue mission. Ship-wise, I of course love Loid/Yor, but I would enjoy stuff about any other character crushing on one or both of them (including Yuri!) as well as them having a moresome/polyam relationship with basically any other adult member(s) of the cast. I don't feel suuuper strongly about any Anya ships, but I do think taht anya/Backy is very cute! Worth Replaying:

One Page Left: a free one page tabletop RPG that you're pursued by a serial killer. You throw dice and complete prompts on a single sheet of paper, but if you run out of space, it's a game over.

You'll end up with a unique keepsake of your game, which looks like a diary entry in a horror game. It's intense and you can control the pace of your game.

Sinister Semester X: You play a high school student who investigate a mystery, decipher clues, and struggle to survive whatever is killing your fellow classmates. Each game week, you either goes through exploration or questioning phases to collect clues, then a survival phase to know which of your classmate (or you if unlucky) gets killed. I like the procedural aspect that gives my playthrough a definite time frame and ending.

Not quite for me:

Muse: Muse is a solo journaling horror game about an artist haunted by an eldritch muse to create works infused with dark powers. The connection your character have may cushion your sanity for awhile, but your demise is inevitable. Nice concept, but I wish there were more prompts for inspiration.

Witchier Woodland You play a witch to save formerly cute medieval-fantasy magical forest to save from the hellish horrors that invaded it. I like the theme, but the game requires using a deck of playing cards. I also long for more concrete prompts than word table for inspiration.

Tendon: biological survival horror, in which you have to risk your life to harvest inside a shifting biomechanical structure in the desert known for bare survival. The game setting moves in real time, which means that you'll only see a small part of the world playing at constant time. The prose is poetic, but it's too combat heavy for me.

Either me or Betty had an article recently (or might have been one of the editors I follow on YT) that talked about you can't have one trauma or one quirk being the whole personality for a character.

I've been thinking about that a lot. I certainly have characters with trauma and/or quirks. I hope that I give them a more well rounded personality but authors tend to be blind about their favorite characters. And sometimes trauma is a rough one to go with because SO many people these days seem to think there is only ONE response to trauma (or to be gay or to be this or that) and you have to do your best but realize you can't please them all.

But the real reason I'm thinking about this 1 trait being the whole personality because I'm reading Bat Eater and Other Names For Cora Zeng and to be honest if this wasn't for book club I'd DNF it (I don't want our second book to be the first I DNF but once we get past this I will DNF I just want to get to know everyone before I throw up my hands and go nope not for me.) Anyhow Cora has zero personality. Her whole personality is she's a mere echo of her more dynamic sister and her extreme germaphobia in the Covid times. At this point if I have to hear about her severe inferiority complex, how she basically doesn't live, just exists, I might hurl this library book across the room.

Because she is literally one (maybe 2) traits, she has literally nothing interesting about it. It's a short book but it isn't enough to keep me interested in this. Well rounded characters are the ones you fall for. I think this is where a good beta reader can come in handy or alpha reader. They might see if you're in that trap even if you do not.

The One Book Marketing Strategy I'd Use Again I have to say I DID NOT have this experience. I did it for my first two novels and still ended up with no reviews or sales. And then they started charging. As far as I'm concerned 600$ is not a fair price for it being on their site and sending a follow up email (I hate those emails btw) I don't doubt some do very well. I certainly didn't earn the 200$ level back out of my experience let alone the 600$. Has anyone here tried this? I wonder what Storygraph is charging for their version of this
